The Final Countdown

My observations did have to come to end. Each station the minutes count down begging to be fed quarters in return giving you more time. It is the ultimate business. The car wash resembles a competition against the machine; it is to see how clean you can get your vehicle and reveals how much one truly cares. However, these duties and activities of society can be time-consuming. Although people have busy days, there is a huge significance the car holds in our society. People are dependent to make a living through its transportation to and from places. The amount of time one puts in their vehicle or even the lack of time, made me develop the controlling idea that cars are in fact extensions of their owners. They reveal one’s income, geography, family choices, and decisions from past.

The most prominent thing I would like to research is the influence of technology on society with car washes. The new businesses are advanced with different gadgets to wash and make the duration of cars last longer. The most apparent difference was a person's behavior at the automatic wash from the self-serve car wash, which supports how each station is adjusted to accustom people's preferences. A person more technology-based has fewer interactions than a person who is not. The cost someone is willing to pay to avoid work can be made into a thesis on how lazy a technological society has become too. However, the workers were very diligent and passionate. General observations that most workers were Latino American made me question the overall rates of different ethnicities being hired at car washes and even wonder about the qualifications and the average pay received from the industry and returned to its workers.

In an ethnography, the costs and incentives are all social attributes that attract more people to that area. Furthermore, going into the cultural significance of cars in general, and the psychology behind what certain people believe will help make some reason for why they go. More men were present than females at the car wash. Some research could be sparked into the cultural roles for genders when it comes to dealing with vehicles.
